Every season, every year, especially this season we have seen players been traded off, hit the free agency market or just demand more money for their services.  Some more than others have been given the most outrageous contracts and most have not produced.  Is it the sheer coincidence that this happens with every player offered Boo-Ku bucks or is it the fact that these guys have some hard core agents working for them.  With this being said here are wePUCKny’s Top 5 most outrageous player contracts taking you into the weekend.

Recently acquired Zach Parise and Ryan Suter carry identical contracts at 13 years $98 Million.  Only thing going for them is that they are both young and will produce for the organization and the only reason they are coming in at Number 5 this week.

 

Number 4

 

 

Ilya Kovalchuck is bringing it home at Number 4 with his 17 year $100 Million contract, which up until this season he just started to earn.

 

Number 3

 

 

Scott Gomez’s contract is starting to dwindle away just like his career and with 2 years left at $7.3 Million rumor has it that the Canadians are looking to buy him out.  Back to Alaska for you my friend.

Ilya Bryzgalov was so close to having our Number 1 beat this week with his lack luster, comedic season he had this year. With his 9 year $51 Million contract this guy better get his act together if he wants to keep his job in the league

This picture says it all and is exactly what he left the Islanders with, a nice black eye.  Rick sports a hefty 15 year $67.5 Million contract and doesn’t even play.  Pretty sweet huh?  Guy gets to sit at home on the couch and collect.  Talk about the best 401K going since Bernie Madoff.
