More space for healthy choices, less space for junk

First Bloomberg took on super sized soda …. now he’s asking bodegas to work with him to further combat the obesity crisis in Manhattan.  While he’s not imposing any bans on the sale of junk food he is requesting that store owners voluntarily give healthy foods prime space in their shops.

Nearly 70% of adults in the Fordham and West Farms neighborhoods of the Bronx are obese – The Shop Healthy Program is attempting to change that.  Eighty of the 170 bodegas and supermarkets in the area have signed on, so that’s a good start… But it’s a big undertaking and is going to take cooperation from everyone.
